The 9th Regional ASPAC-NGO Management
Board Meeting

                   The 9th Regional ASPAC-NGO Management Board Meeting was held on December 1,2004 at Grand Plaza Parkroyal Hotel, Yangon, Union of Myanmar. The Meeting chaired by Plo.Gen. Chavalit Yodmani, President of ASPAC-NGO.
                   The Meeting was successfully concluded with gracious cooperation of Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) Ministry of Home Affairs and Myanmar Anti-Narcotics Association (MANA) of Myanmar.
The Meeting briefly summarized with the following points :
                   1. Progress Report of ASPAC-NGO website development reflects the success of its implementation which has been serving to member organizations and facilitate in obtaining the movements of drug information through Information Technology [ IT ].
                   2. The production of Manual for Training of Personnel Responsible for Drug Abuse Control in Workplace has successfully carried out. The Manuals are also distributed to all member Organizations who attended the Meeting. The Meeting also expressed its appreciation to Narcotics Affairs Section [NAS] of US Embassy in Bangkok and Department of Technical and Economic Cooperation [DTEC] of Thailand that make this Manual publicizable.
                   3. The Action Plan of 2004. Only 2 out of 4 main activities were successfully implemented as planned. The rests are unable to carry out due to unavailability of funds.
                   4. Progress of Consultative Status Application to UN-ECOSOC. The application form has already been filled out. However, the Meeting suggested that the form be elaborated some more details in No.13 and 14. Dato Mustapha Ma is willing to help ASPAC-NGO Secretariat improve the necessary details of application form.
                   5. Financial status of ASPAC-NGO. The budget remains from 2003 is US $ 25,728,645 and the total expenses up to 31 October 2004 is US $ 13,592.014.
The remaining balance is US $ 12,136.631.
                   6. The Action Plan of 2004 was unanimously approved by the Meeting. The four main activities
- Knowledge Development Project on Drug Abuse Prevention via Information   Technology.
- Training Project to Staff Responsible for Drug Abuse Prevention in Workplace
- ASPAC-NGO’S Newsletter
- Conference / Meeting / Seminar ( Meetings of ASPAC-NGO Board - National
  Advisory Council–Working Consultant Team – IFNGO ASEAN NGOs Workshop -   IFNGO Council of Advisors and IFNGO Management Board.
                   7. Cooperation of Member Organizations and Affiliates in Asia and the Pacific to ASPAC-NGO has been acknowledged and cooperated. Sharing of information on drug abuse prevention schemes including articles and researches issues are also required by ASPAC-NGO to be put in website of ASPAC-NGO
                   8. The 10th Regional ASPAC-NGO Management Board Meeting schedules to be held in Singapore in 2005. Actual duration of the Meeting will be determined and announced by SANA Singapore.
                   9. Pol.Gen Chavalit Yodmani, Chairman of the Meeting expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to every attendee who actively participated and contributed tangible ideas to ASPAC-NGO for further effective implementation. Special thank also went to CCDAC and MANA, Myanmar that made this Meeting fruitfully concluded. The Meeting adjourned at 16:00 hrs. as scheduled.
