visits and meets with Thai Agencies at ONCB |

Bangkok : 7 December 2005. Mr. Thom Browne
Jr., Deputy Director of Office of Anti-crime Programs,
Bureau for International Narcotics & Law Enforcement
Affairs (INL/C/CJ), US Department of State, Mr.
Terry Daru, Director of Narcotics Affairs Section
[NAS] and Mr. Vichai Kiyaphatya of NAS paid a visit
and held meeting at ONCB Headquarters in Bangkok
to review the cooperative efforts on drug demand
programs in Thailand. At the Meeting 3 government
agencies comprising of ONCB, Thanyarak Institute
of Ministry of Public Health and Thai International
Development Cooperation Agency [TICA-Former DTEC],Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, and 2 NGOs Comprising of ASPAC-NGO
and NGO-ANCC/NCSW Thailand.
The reports from respective Thai agencies were briefed
to him, he expressed his appreciation of the tasks
carried out by Thai agencies [GOs and NGOs]. He
also disclosed that US government will continue
supporting drug demand reduction programs in Thailand.
He also mentioned that Drug Demand Reduction Training
Center will be established Additionally, INL is
pleased to support the up-coming 16th IFNGO ASEAN
NGOs Workshop for drug and Substance Abuse Prevention
which will be jointly hosted by NGO-ANCC/NCSWT,
ASPAC-NGO and ONCB in November 2006 in Bangkok.
