Drug Advisory Programme of the Colombo Plan Secretariat has organised a meeting of sixteen experts in drug abuse prevention and control from six South and Southeast Asian countries between 16 – 20 August at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok.
          The group drafted a book titled “Combating the Global Drugs Problem: The Asian Experience”, covering the trend and drugs situation around the world and in the region, development of drug policies and countermeasures, and examples of demand reduction initiatives undertaken by core agencies.
          The book can serve as a tool for new comers in the drugs field as well as a review of current initiatives for practitioners. DAP expects to have the book published and ready for distribution by the end of 2005.
