United Nations upholds Thailand as Example in Drug Suppression Work
 
Bangkok: June 26, 2005- The United Nations as has pressed Thailand for its drugs suppression means, describe it’s as an example for other countries to follow, Justice Minister H.E.Swat Liptapunlop reveal. H.E Mr. Suwat. who today (26 June, 2005) presided over the award ceremony for organizations and individuals who made an outstanding contribution to drug suppression and prevention efforts to mark this year’s UN anti-drug day. Noting that the UNODC has urged other countries in the region to follow Thailand’s example, it was also mentioned that Thailand has already agreed to work with the neighboring countries to help them solve their drugs problem. The events to mark the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking had been organized and launched globally on the 26 June 2005. In Thailand the special event was held in Maungathong Thani Convention Center in cooperation of 76 provincial authorities including Bangkok Metropolitan Administration – BMA, GOs and NGOs covering drug demand and supply strategies. Greate number of people and students joined the 3 day special event.
