Anti-Drug Campaign of UN IDADAIT in Thailand

Royal Thai Government represented by office of the Narcotics Control Board and UNODC Regional office for East Asia and the Pacific Jointly organized special event to mark the commemoration of The United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking UN IDADAIT. The opening ceremony took place on the 25 June 2005 at Maungthong Thani Convention center and presided by H.E. Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, minister of justice. UN Secretary – General Mr, Kofi Annan’s Remark was presented at ceremony by Mr. Akira Fujino, UNODC Representative for East Asia and the Pacific in front of diplomats, high ranking government officials, guests of honor and groups of people who actively participated in anti-drug campaign activities.

The special event "Power of Thai Fair Fight against Drug" aims to achieve the roadmap’s objectives of "War on Drug" for 2005 which has been commenced from 1 October 2004. The 4th episode schedules to commence from 1 July 30 September 2005.

Various aspects of activities namely elegant opening ceremony, performances on the stage performed by youth groups, street performances, Hip-Hop, B-Boy Dance, Pom-Pom Cheer, games & sports (indoor soccer, street basketball).theater of learning, popular TV. Programs & game shows, cultural shows from 4 regions and exhibition of drug abuse prevention as food for thought, are shown throughout the 3-day event.

H.E. Suwat Liptapanlop, Pol.Lt.Gen Krisna Pol-ananta, Mr.Akira Fujino and Mrs Nattannon Taweesin, BMA City Clerk were on the visiting tour to drug exhibition booths and chatted with young exhibitors of various youth groups.
 
The outstanding awards presentation to persons and organizations on demand reduction measures and law enforcement has been annually performed and conferred to then on 26 June. H.E. Mr. Suwat, Minister of Justice offered plagues of honor to both civilians and law enforcement groups for their devotions to fight against illicit drug. The awarding ceremony was televised live via Thai TV Global Network to 170 countries.
 
The exhibitions organized by various anti-drug group depicted and relaxed the efforts to fight against drug menace.
